What items can’t be marked down?
In the past almost any item in the store could be marked down with the exception of a very small list of product brands. This changed in the recent months to also include items on clearance, sale items, and marked ‘New lower price’. There is no hard and fast rule on some of these, and it seems like certain clearance items can be discounted. For example some people have claimed success with certain clearance items, however almost no sale items or ‘New lower price’.
While checking out if your coupon is accepted but it shows a $0.00 discount, you probably have an item that cannot be discounted. This means even if your coupon is for $20 OFF $100 with your cart total at $101(before tax) the actual cart total for the coupon threshold is less. These coupon restrictions are stated in every coupons fine print.
Most notorious items for coupon issues
The number one reason a coupon did not work for a customer at Lowes was cart threshold not meeting the requirements of the coupons. Most times people are unaware of the coupon terms for items they are purchasing. The biggest problem is not meeting the coupon threshold requirements. Most often this is because of a clearance, sale item, or an item marked new lower price. Many people shop at Lowes for business purposes. Please keep in mind contractor packs are not allowed to be discounted either. It is also worth noting most holiday items that are in-season are also excluded from being discounted with coupons.
